Kabel Deutschland and Unitymedia change their channel-bouquet slightly

THE VEED HD RANKING SHOWS: THE TOP OF THE LIST REMAINS UNCHALLENGED, BUT THE OTHER SERVICES MOVE CLOSER TOGETHER

Just in time for the pre-Christmas sales, Kabel Deutschland and Unitymedia announced the expansion of their TV deals.

Through new activations, the basic package “Basis Paket HD Senderwelt” is strengthened by 3 channels. “Kabel Premium HD” gains one more HD-channel and “Kabel Premium Extra” gains five more HD-channels. The Kabel Deutschland HD channel-universe grows to 73 channels in total, which brings Kabel Deutschland in HD to a ranking of third place, behind Deutsche Telekom and Sky.

Unitymedia extended the package “DigitalTV Allstars” by 12 channels. Additionally, the international PayTV offer has grown by three packages: DigitalTV Französisch, DigitalTV Serbisch and DigitalTV Albanisch. The total number of available HD channels remained almost at a constant level.

The rank of the TV-services has therefore not changed over the past few months. “However, especially the leading services have increased competition and strengthen their basic packages constantly” explains Bernd Riefler, CMO at veed analytics. Deutsche Telekom leads the veed HD ranking, offering 104 HD-channels, followed by Sky with 80 HD-channels. Kabel Deutschland still occupies 3rd place with 73 HD-channels, but further secures their lead over Unitymedia, with an offering of 61 channels in high definition.
